Photography is something that should be spontaneous but unfortunately like so many people when I arrive on location I become a tourist again.
So, some images are shot at a rush without thinking about settings etc. while others take a bit of planning.
I have images going back over 40 years so this page reflects my latest ideas and therefore, latest images.
Having a telescope is a recent addition to my armoury. Taking deep space images is an art that has to be learned and mastered. As I work on the techniques required, I can at least practice on the larger celestial bodies such as the moon.
I recently discovered a little nature reserve to the west of Bathgate called Little Boghead Nature Park. While having a walk there recently, I was privileged to spend some time photographing this Grey Heron.
I had a close encounter with this Roe deer buck recently.
Deer cannot see colours but they are incredibly good at seeing movement so it is watching me to see if I move. It’s mate was just out of the image but I was remaining perfectly still trying to get off a few shots.
It took him a couple of minutes to decide I was definitely there – meaning I then got plenty shots of its white rump as it disappeared into the heather.
